Player Bio

JJ currently represents the Stormers in Cape Town. Known for his pinpoint accuracy at lineout time, exceptional maul execution, and dynamic ball carrying ability, he is a consistent performer for his franchise.

Kotze’s rugby journey began at school level, where he represented South Africa Schools, showcasing his talent amongst South Africa’s top young prospects. He played a pivotal role in the Stormers’ United Rugby Championship winning season and started in the 2021 final against the Blue bulls in Cape Town. He would also go on to play in the 2023 final as well.

Additionally, Kotze earned selection for South Africa A in 2022, further demonstrating his progression through South Africa’s representative rugby pathway. With an understanding of what it takes to succeed to reach each level, Kotze is well-equipped to continue rising through the ranks with a bright future.
